INFORMATION ON TATTING

Tatting is a technique & has been a favourite form of fancy work since the 16th century & possesses endless possible adaptation. One may see it in museums the beautiful & costly inlaid tatting. Tatting is derived from an Indian word ”Tattie”meaning make tight or taut - a sort of knotted work, done with different sized shuttles & different thread. The French called it “Frivolite” from its delicate & lacy appearance. Today, simple design are combined with novelty braids, lace & hand embroidery, thus giving to these modern design an artistic effect almost equal to the fragile & beautiful creations of the 16th century. Past meets present as WoonHung intreprets & gives tatting a soft modern feminine twist.
